1 SKETCH
- indicate the general illustration content
- in this phase the correct composition for the illustration is chosen and the character poses
-the chosen ratios of the characters will be drawn in the next drawing phase (development) 
- pencil/digital
- not yet in colour
-choose from up to 3 versions

Feedback
You review the illustration content. This includes poses, composition and perspective. 

 

2 DEVELOPMENT
- the content and style of the illustration are defined
- in this phase the style of the spread is chosen (how the various elements are drawn, such as cartoon or stylised)
- characters are drawn within the chosen ratios
- pencil/digital
- roughly in colour

Feedback
You review the illustration style. This includes the clothing selected, emotions and character design. Review of content is no longer possible because it has already been approved in the sketch phase.

 

3 FINALISED
- indicates illustration content, style and technique
- in this phase the technique of the spread is selected (the drawing material, for example, pencil, digital pastel)
- in colour

Feedback
Style and content review is no longer possible because they have already been approved in the previous phases. Only adjustments to colour.

 

When a project is stopped halfway through by the client:
For the phase sketch/development/finalised I figure at 33%/66%/100% of the illustration fee.

Character Design
Here too there are 3 feedback phases. Initially, a neutral pose is selected to design the character in the right proportions. When this neutral design has been signed off, more dynamic poses can be developed, as the proportions are then clear.

Additional Adjustments
With each illustration phase it is indicated what you can provide feedback on. What happens if you request adjustments that belong to an earlier phase? (For example, a request to make significant pose changes in the development / final phase) Additional charges may apply. I will inform you immediately, so you can still choose to withdraw the additionally requested changes to stay within your original budget.

Is it possible to skip a phase?
No phase is ever skipped as I always follow this procedure. You can, however, choose to skip one of the feedback phases. If you later request significant changes to the final result you may incur additional costs. For this reason I always ask for feedback. Most projects benefit from completing each step.
